Congratulations to Bonnie Swoger on her MLS

Milne Library is proud to announce that Bonnie Swoger, Instructional Support Associate, recently completed her coursework towards a Master's in Library Science (MLS). Her degree comes from the University at Buffalo and will be conferred in February 2008. Bonnie has worked in Milne Library since September of 2005, with increasing responsibilities and active involvement in several important library projects, including the redesign of the library website and the SAILS information literacy assessment. Bonnie has a BS from St. Lawrence University in Geology, an MS in Geology from Kent State University and taught Introductory Geology Labs at Buffalo State College for several years before coming to Geneseo. Bonnie's professional interests include web design, scholarly communication in the sciences, open access, Web 2.0 tools, and information literacy instruction and assessment. Congratulations to Bonnie and all her achievements!

Recent acquisitions in women's studies

It has been a while, but Milne Library's Women's Studies List has been updated and is available for viewing and printing at http://library.geneseo.edu/books/wstudies.shtml. Recent additions to our collection include books on female spirituality, women and the news media, medieval gender issues and writing by African American women. For more annotations, images of cover art, and older lists, go to the Women's Studies List on the Milne Library homepage. New Technology Specialist joins Milne Library staff

Milne Library welcomes our brand-new technology specialist, Steve Praino, to the staff. Steve officially works for CIT, but is based in the library. Steve will be responsible for the library computer labs, installation of computer software and technical support. Steve grew up in Massachusetts and attended RIT, graduating in the fall of 2007 and receiving his B.S. in Information Technology with a concentration in Interactive Multimedia and a minor in Psychology. Steve's outside interests include watching movies, gaming, restaurants and wine tasting. He also builds PCs and one day hopes to own his own business building computers.

Milne Library welcomes our new Associate Director!


Cyril Oberlander, former Director of Interlibrary Services at the University of Virginia and Head of Interlibrary Loan at Portland State University, has joined the staff of Milne Library as Associate Library Director. He started his new position on Monday, January 7th.

Cyril's library background is interlibrary loan services at academic institutions and he brings to Milne a wealth of experience and expertise in this area. Cyril has published and presented extensively on library interlibrary loan issues and Milne is excited and privileged to have him join our staff. Next time you are in the library, stop by the Administrative Office and say hello!
