Research Help at the library!

It's that time of year again -- Thanksgiving Break is over and now you are scrambling to get that research paper done before finals begin. Did you know you can get help with your tough research assignments at Milne Library? Library faculty are trained and ready to assist students with finding resources and materials for their research. Students have several options when looking for help:

• stop by the Milne Reference Desk and ask one of our librarians for assistance with your research
• schedule an appointment with a librarian for an in-depth consultation (those lasting longer than just a few minutes), by filling out a Student Research Consultation request form through the library website
• Call the Reference Desk with your question (245-5595) or submit a question to our Reference Librarians through email

Thanksgiving Break Hours

Milne Library's Thanksgiving Break hours go into effect Tuesday, November 21st. The library is open the following days and times during the Thanksgiving Break period:

Tuesday, November 21st: 7:30 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Wednesday, November 22nd: 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Thursday, November 23rd through Saturday, November 25th: CLOSED
Sunday, November 26th: 6:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.

Our regular semester hours resume on Monday, November 27th at 7:30 a.m.

Denise Scott: "The Best Kept Secret" talk in Milne

Professor Denise Scott of the Sociology Department gave a talk entitled, "The Best Kept Secret: Women Lobbyists and Corporate Power in the U.S", at 4pm Thursday, November 16th in Milne Library, Room 213. Dr. Scott's lecture was part of an ongoing series of events celebrating the centennial Susan B. Anthony Year, 2006-2007. Please visit the Susan B. Visit the library homepage and look for "Classes in Milne today..." under the Students links. Updated daily, our schedule will give you class or event title, sponsor of the event and room location. You may also search by building or date to find other events happening on the SUNY Geneseo campus.

New Art Exhibit in Milne Gallery

"Looking Through Their Eyes: A Child's-Eye View of Life and Development in Borgne, Haiti" is a new photo exhibit featured in Milne Gallery, showing November 8th through December 10th. The exhibit is sponsored by Haiti Outreach - Pwoje Espwa (H.O.P.E.), the Anthropology Department and Milne Library, and is based on a project created by Sarah Brownell and Kevin Ahimsa. The photos were taken by children in a small village called Borgne in rural northern Haiti as part of an educational development project led by two volunteers from Rochester. A presentation by these two volunteers will include a slideshow and reception and is to be held in Milne Library in the coming weeks. Check back for further details.
