What type of library space do you like to study in?
As finals approach, many of you will be spending additional time in the library finishing presentations and studying for exams. Where do you like to study in the library?
We may have the resources to build some additional casual study space in the near future, and we need your input on what types of chairs, sofas, tables and other items to include.
Do you use the TV rockers? Do you prefer the leather easy chairs? Do you need a place to plug in your laptop? A place to put your coffee? Click on the "comments" link below and let us know what kind of casual study space you would use.

basically anywhere it is QUIET! There should be more areas in the library designated for quiet study.. even upstairs people talk out loud and it is very distracting for some people. It is annoying when you go upstairs and people are talking. If they want to talk, they should go downstairs. There should be more strict enforcement of the no talking/quiet policy upstairs. Also, there should be more desks up there where you can plug in a laptop!
I LOVE the red chairs upstairs. They are so comfy and a great place to curl up with a book. I also enjoy the large tables on the third floor to spread out and do lots of work with no distractions.
The biggest study issue in the library is most definitely the lack of computers. I am amazed every day that there is not violent battles for the computers. I think if more computers were upstairs then students would have more places in the library to work and study electronically. More places for group study would also be great. There are not enough tables on the far side of the main floor to study with friends and with so many people in one area it can get pretty noisy. Also, silence really does need to be enforced on the third floor, even on the stairs. Noise drifts up and can be extremely aggravating. Overall
I agree that there should be more quiet study areas. Even on the quiet 2nd floor there is always someone talking or playing music from their laptop next to me. Maybe there should be a SUPER quiet area far enough away from the noise of the downstairs that is strictly enforced for students that really cant focus with noise present. I also agree that there should be more computers available upstairs.
I like the suggestion about having super quiet places. The study booths around the edges would be good for that. If you had more of them and posted signs in them saying no cell phones or laptops that would help a lot. Those spaces would be better than special rooms for quiet study, it's too distracting to have people coming in and out of a room.
Some places have so much seating that it's hard to walk through the area, like the basement near the copiers.
More outlets for laptops would be nice, maybe near tables. It doesn't seem like you need to get more computers (like one person suggested) since all students will have to own laptops.
I recently graduated from Geneseo. As comfy as those nice chairs can be it means nothing if the upstairs is not quiet enough. I loved the library but remember getting very frustrated when I could not find the silence I was looking for there. Especially during pledging and rush. If you could get staff to monitor the upstairs I think it would make a big differnce.
